In July, rumors surfaced that Warner Bros. going to release a Harry Potter series. Soon, Joan Rowling announced that no new projects were planned, but we still decided to remember the heroes of the magical universe who deserved their own show.
The story of Sukhaty, Rogue, Lunatic and Tail (aka James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupine and Peter Pettigrew) is one of the most desired spin-offs for fans of Harry Potter. Animagia, creating a map of Marauders; Lupine hiding in the Howling Hut every full moon; the conflict between Potter and Severus Snape and their relationship with Lily; the first Death Eaters and the Voldemort terror – it seems that the Marauders could really be an excellent series about the adventures of teenage wizards during the first magical war. And even more stylish and gloomy than Sabrina’s Chilling Adventures .
Who could play: Jaden Martell (James Potter), Wyatt Oleff (Sirius Black), Louis Davison (Remus Lupine), Jeremy Ray Taylor (Peter Pettigrew), Sofia Lillis (Lily Evans), Finn Wulfard (Severus Snape).
Night Knight Bus
The three-story purple Night Knight bus appeared at the end of the 19th century and was initially accepted by wizards as a “Muggle disgrace”, and then became a lifesaver for those who for some reason cannot use the official transport of the wizarding world – brooms, transgression and fireplace network. Among the passengers of the bus, there are often magical marginals and other interesting characters hiding from the Ministry of Magic and other influential magical instances. The Night Knight travels at tremendous speed through Wales, Little Wing, Magnolia, Abergavenny, Anglesey, Aberdeen, London, Birmingham, Hogsmeade, Hogwarts, Isle of Skye. You can spend the night in it, drink cocoa and even brush your teeth. In Harry Potter, Ernie Prang drives the bus, and conductor Stanley Shanpike serves the passengers (both named after the grandfathers of Joan Rowling).
In the films The Night Knight, very little time is given. He appears twice – in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix . But the story about the magic bus and its passengers has enormous potential! The Night Knight can be both a comical conversational series and an absurd show in the style of Mighty Bush .
Who could play: Simon Pegg (Stanley Shanpike) and John Cleese (Ernie Prang).
First Order of the Phoenix
The Order of the Phoenix was founded in the 1970s by the director of Hogwarts, Albus Dumbledore, to fight Lord Voldemort and his minions. It included both experienced obscurantists from the Ministry of Magic and young wizards who had recently graduated from school. Among the latter were James and Lily Potter, Remus Lupine, Sirius Black. Also in the order of the Phoenix were Frank and Alice Dolgopups, Neville’s parents, and Fabian and Gideon Pruett, siblings of Molly Weasley. Most of the members of the first order died at the hands of the Death Eaters and the Dark Lord. In 1981, after the death of James and Lily Potter and the disappearance of Voldemort, the Order of the Phoenix was abolished. The history of the order could be an excellent mystical drama, as well as tell in detail about the transformation of Tom Reddle in Voldemort.
Who could play: Freddy Highmore (Frank Dolgopups), Sophie Kennedy Clark (Alice Dolgopups), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Sirius Black), Nicholas Holt (Rimus Lupine), George McKay (James Potter), Lauren McCroosty (Lily Potter), Damien Lewis (one of the Prett brothers).
Another entertaining story, the interest in which was fueled by the film Fantastic Beasts and Where They Live (the Lovegood Salamander family tree was published in Time magazine ). After Hogwarts, Luna Lovegood didn’t get along with Neville Longbottom, and she married Rolf Salamander, grandson of Newt Salamander, the protagonist of Fantastic Beasts. According to Rowling, both Lovegood and Salamander are fond of magical creatures, travel a lot, and at the wedding of Polumna she wore a diadem with a unicorn horn.
For the series, the period of Lovegood’s life from graduation from Hogwarts to marriage with mandatory flashbacks from childhood (Polumna’s mother, Pandora Lovegood, died when she was 9 years old) and youth (studying at Hogwarts and fighting with the Dark Lord) would be interesting. It would be dramedy about finding myself, almost like “Girls . ”
Who could play: Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), Evan Peters (Rolf Salamander), Gwendoline Christie (Pandora Lovegood).
Leaky Cauldron Bar
A bar with a 500-year history is the main place of power not only of Diagon Alley, but of the whole of magical London. After the events of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”, the owner of the “Leaky Cauldron” was Hannah Abbot, wife of Neville Dolgopups. Little is known about Hannah: she studied at Hogwarts at the Hufflepuff faculty, was friends with Cedric Digory, was in the Dumbledore Squad, participated in the Battle of Hogwarts and was fond of trauma. The Leaky Cauldron could be a great sitcom in the spirit of Black Bookstore, adjusted for magic and the 2010s.
Who could play: Jenny Slate (Hannah Abbot), Michael Cera (Neville Longbottom).
Almost Headless Nick
Before becoming the charismatic ghost of Gryffindor, Nickless Headless Nick, aka Sir Nicholas de Mimsey-Delfington, was a smug aristocratic wizard who lived at the court of King Henry VI. Once, one of the maids of honor asked Sir Nicholas to make her more beautiful, but something went wrong, and the wizard conjured her tusks. After that, Sir Nicholas was deprived of his magic wand and sentenced to death. What happened during the execution, Almost Headless Nick repeatedly told the Hogwarts students: 45 blows with an ax were not enough to separate his head from the body. The biography of a wizard-loser can not be extended for several seasons, but it is suitable for an ironic mini-series.
Who could play: James Franco .
Blackie is one of the most influential and most thoroughbred magic families. Surname Black was carried by many interesting characters: the sisters Bellatrix Lestrange (the most devoted supporter of Voldemort), Narcissa Malfoy (mother of Draco Malfoy) and Andromeda Tonks (mother of Nymphadora Tonks), Sirius Black and his younger brother Regulus Black – the Death Eater, who had betrayed The dark lord. The story of growing up in a family of hereditary Slytherins obsessed with purity of blood can be a good basis for a film adaptation. What is there a giant family tree in a mansion on Grimmo Square!
Who could play: Timothy Chalamet (Regulus Black), Tanya Reynolds (Andromeda Tonks), Margaret Cuelli (Bellatrix Lestrange), Kaya Scodelario (Narcissa Malfoy), Tobias Menzies (Orion Black).
In Harry Potter, of course, the wizard Merlin, the hero of legends about King Arthur, could not do without. Rowling Merlin became a less mythical figure. It is known that he studied at the Slytherin faculty (and, possibly, with the founders of Hogwarts!) And helped King Arthur rule England. In honor of Merlin, wizards have sayings and curses (“Merlin Beard!”), A card of chocolate frogs, a portrait on the front stairs of Hogwarts, and an order that is awarded for services to the Ministry of Magic and for the fight against dark forces. How did Merlin become a Slytherin? How did you become so great? What was Hogwarts like in the Middle Ages? A separate series about Merlin could answer all these questions. But not as serious as the Merlin BBC!
Who could play: Ben Barnes (young Merlin), Timothy Dalton (old Merlin).
Another hero of the Harry Potter universe, the prototype of which was a real person – French alchemist Nicolas Flamel. It is he who is credited with creating the philosopher’s stone and the elixir of immortality. Unlike his prototype, Nicholas Flamel from Harry Potter created the philosopher’s stone and lived for at least 600 years. The wizard graduated from the Sharmbaton Academy of Magic and lived in Devonshire for some time, and later, judging by the Fantastic Beasts, he moved to Paris.
Who could play: Matt Smith .
A film or a series about the founders of Hogwarts is another most desirable spin-off among fans (after the Marauders, of course). The School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was founded in the 10th century by four powerful wizards: Godric Gryffindor, Candida Ravenclaw, Penelope Hufflepuff and Salazar Slytherin. From books and films we know that the founders of the school chose students based on their skills and character and left behind a modest amount of artifacts – a talking hat, sword, bowl, diadem and a room with a Basilisk. Few people know that for some time Gryffindor was Slytherin’s best friend, and Candida Ravenclaw had a difficult relationship with her daughter. The series about the founders of Hogwarts could tell not only about the great wizards and their feuds, but also about the emergence of magical traditions known by “Harry Potter”.
Who could play: Laura Dern (Candida Ravenclaw), Sean Bean (Godric Gryffindor), Viggo Mortensen (Salazar Slytherin), Sherelyn Fenn (Penelope Hufflepuff).
