The editor-in-chief of the Dagestan newspaper Chernovik, detained today, Abdulmumin Hajiyev, was taken to investigators, he does not admit his guilt in financing terrorism, the lawyer said.
As reported by the ” Caucasian Knot “, security forces today conducted a search of Abdulmumin Hajiyev, an employee of the Chernovik newspaper, and detained him. According to a source in the power structures of the republics, Hajiyev was suspected of transferring money to the accounts of Abu Umar Sasitlynsky.
Dagestan preacher Abu Umar Sasitlinsky (Israil Akhmednabiyev) considers the investigation to be the organizer of terrorist financing through “charitable foundations” under the pretext of building mosques and helping poor Muslims. Sasitlinsky himself, in connection with the case on the financing of terrorists, has rejected his involvement in this.
Security officials arrived at Gadzhiev’s apartment today at about 06.30 Moscow time, Idris Yusupov, a journalist from the Dagestan newspaper Novoye Delo, told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent. “We did not find anything forbidden,” said Yusupov, who was present at the scene.
“Abdulmumin Hajiyev is in the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Dagestan. I am with him. He does not admit his guilt. The pressure on him does not come, everything is calm,” lawyer Arsen Shabanov told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.
According to him, Hajiyev was detained on suspicion of “participating in the activities of an organization that is recognized as terrorist in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation” and “promoting terrorist activity.” Articles provide for up to 20 years in prison.
In turn, the Chernovik newspaper in its Telegram-channel ( 5427 participants) stated that it intends to seek a withdrawal of the charges against Hajiyev. “The accusation of financing terrorism in the North Caucasus is about the same as throwing drugs to Ivan Golunov in Moscow. Abdulmumin Hajiyev is one of the oldest employees of Chernovik, and his articles on religious subjects have always found a positive response from readers and have been widely discussed. The accusation of financing Hajiyev terrorism itself is absurd. We will demand that all absurd charges be dropped from Hajiyev, “the newspaper said.
Recall that on June 6, security officials in Moscow detained the journalist of the Medusa website, Ivan Golunov, who wrote, including about the south of Russia, in a case of drug trafficking. After the detention of Golunov throughout Russia, including in Krasnodar, Astrakhan, Volgograd, Makhachkala, actions in support of the journalist were held. On June 11, it became known that the police decided to close the Golunov case, since the examinations conducted did not provide evidence of the journalist’s involvement in drug trafficking. Experts polled by the “Caucasian Knot” noted that the Golunov case was influenced by a wide response and public support of the journalist.
