The network has a schedule of future releases of Disney, from which it became aware of the cancellations and transfers of several projects. In particular, the studio has appointed new dates for the Avatar sequels , announced when the new Star Wars will be released , and removed several scheduled Fox films from the schedule on Marvel comics.
Before the Fox / Disney merger, Avatar 2 was to be released on December 18, 2020, but now it is expected on December 17, 2021. Because of this, other sequels moved: the third film will appear in cinemas on December 22, 2023, and not on December 17, 2021, the fourth – December 19, 2025, instead of December 20, 2024. “Avatar 5” will now see the light on December 17, 2027.
The ninth episode of Star Wars will mark the end of the Skywalker family story, after which the entire franchise will move in a new direction. Now two separate trilogies are being developed by Ryan Johnson and the creators of Game of Thrones, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss .
It is not yet known whose project will be released first, but the new wave of Star Wars will start on December 16, 2022 with a nameless film . The sequel will be released on December 20, 2024, and the third part – December 18, 2026.
Thus, with the help of “Avatar” and “Star Wars” Disney plans in the coming years to control the Christmas rental. Her major releases will be released every December until 2027. By that time, the studio is sure to announce several more projects.
Disney also updated the schedule for Fox-based Marvel comics. “New mutants” , which have already been postponed several times, will still go to the cinema. It was expected that the film will be left for stream-service Hulu, but, according to new information, it will be released in normal rent on April 3, 2020. Initially, the picture was supposed to come out on August 2, 2019, but the delays with the shootings made many people doubt whether the film would be seen at all. However, the studio, apparently, is confident in the project and intends to release it in cinemas.
Less fortunate long-suffering “Gambita” : the project, still devoid of a director, removed from the schedule of releases. Together with him a few more nameless films came under the knife. Probably, among them were “Doctor Doom” by Noah Hawley , “The Multiplier” by James Franco and “Kitty Pride” by Tim Miller .
At the same time, the release dates of Marvel studio films ( “Black Widow” , “Eternal” , “Shan-chi” ) remained unnamed.
The changes affected other projects. “Artemis Fowl” will be released May 29, 2020, not August 8, 2019, as previously indicated. Fantastic picture with Brad Pitt “To the Stars” moved from May of this year to September 20th.
