Kemal Tambiyev, a suspect in the terrorism financing case, said that he was tortured in order to extract evidence from him against the journalist of the Chernovik newspaper Abdulmumin Hajiyev. He stated this on June 16 at the court hearing on the election of a preventive measure.
On the eve, Hajiyev himself, during a meeting on the election of a preventive measure, claimed that Tambiyev had asked for his forgiveness for incriminating him under torture.
The court, at the request of attorney Rashid Jafarov, extended Tambiyev’s detention for 48 hours, until June 18, 11:00.
Jafarov told Kavkaz.Realii that after Tambiyev had been brought to Dagestan from Moscow, he was not allowed to see his client, and the interrogation was conducted with the participation of an appointed lawyer.
