World Bank President to Resign

World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim resigns. He will finish working from February 1. About it reports RIA Novosti with reference to the press release of the bank. The responsibilities of the head of the organization will be performed by the executive director Kristalina Georgieva .

Kim decided to resign before the expiration of his term in 2022. The official reason is the banker’s desire to return to work in the private sector of the economy. “Kim announced that immediately after his resignation he would join a [private] company and would work to increase infrastructure investments in developing countries,” the document says. What kind of company we are talking about is not specified.

Jim Yong Kim took office on July 1, 2012, after the expiration of the term of office of the former head of the organization, Robert Zoellick. Five years later, Kim was nominated for a new term.

Jim Yong Kim was born in Seoul in 1959, his family emigrated to the United States five years later. In 1987, Kim became one of the co-founders of the charitable organization Partners In Health, which deals with the provision of medical care to the poor.
