In the course of a large-scale special operation in Tatarstan, leaders of the Russian branch and regional structure of the Hizb ut-Tahrir terrorist organization banned in Russia were detained.

According to the Public Relations Center of the FSB of the Russian Federation, the operation was carried out in cooperation with the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Federal Service of the National Guard of the Russian Federation. The number of detainees is not specified. It is known that they are all taken into custody.

“In addition to involving Muslims in their ranks, they carried out purposeful work to create a network closed structure in Russia, resolved tasks to replenish military formations of a terrorist organization operating in the territories of the Middle East,” says the FSB of the FSB of the Russian Federation.

The FSB also explained that, on the instructions of foreign curators, the detainees coordinated the actions of members of the organization aimed at overthrowing the legitimate authority to create a so-called world caliphate. Achieving this goal involves terrorist methods.

The propaganda materials of Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami, papers with instructions from the emissaries and reports on the work done, as well as communications and electronic media were seized in the houses and apartments of the detainees.

Operational investigative measures and investigative actions are continuing.

Recall that in April of this year, during the joint operation of security forces, 14 members of the so-called Kazan cell of Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami were detained, which included residents of the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan and surrounding areas of the republic. During the searches, in addition to the forbidden literature, reports on recruiting work with newly involved adherents were discovered.
