Russian President Vladimir Putin explained why he does not accept calls from his Ukrainian counterpart, Petro Poroshenko. According to the Russian leader, he does not want to participate in the election campaign of Poroshenko.

“The point is not that I simply shy away and do not want to talk with Pyotr Alekseevich, this is not the case,” Putin said in response to a request to comment on Kiev’s refusal of telephone conversations after the incident in the Kerch Strait.

“The fact is that I do not want to take part in his election campaign,” said the head of state.

Vladimir Putin added that Petro Poroshenko creates provocations himself, then shifts the responsibility onto Russia and pretends to “successfully solve the problems that have arisen.” The Russian leader noted that he would not take part in such “simple combinations”.
