On the dry cargo ship “Anatoly Krasheninnikov,” which sank not far from Cape Lopatka of Kamchatka, the crew was understaffed and there were unaccounted passengers, told TASS deputy transport prosecutor of the Kamchatka Territory Ivan Netsvet.
The vessel sank in the Sea of Okhotsk on November 9, but it left the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in the village of Palana with violations.
- It has been preliminarily established that there were violations during the clearance of the vessel’s departure from the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. According to the ship’s role, ten crew members were declared, but in fact eight men got on the flight. In addition, four crew members were included in the ship’s role, but there were no people on board, instead of them there were other people. In addition, it was established that five passengers should not have been on board, and when registering a departure, the port captain was not given any information about them, the prosecutor said.
Ivan Netsvet also added that in parallel with the investigation of the criminal case, there is a general supervision inspection of the shipowner. Of the 13 people present, 10 were rescued by a vessel passing nearby, the search for the rest continues. But the rescue operation is slowed down by the cyclone that came to Kamchatka. Authorities said they would help families of missing sailors.
