Charlie Whiting is missing – a man who was one of the key employees of the Big Prizes. It was he who gave the start to every race.
At the 67th year of his life died Formula 1 racing director Charlie Whiting. This was reported by the press service of the International Automobile Federation (FIA).
It is noted that the cause of death was a pulmonary embolus.
Words of condolence have already expressed the Russian racer Daniil Kvyat.
– Dear Charlie, you left us. We will miss you very much. Thank you for your hard work and talent. Condolences to your family and friends, – wrote Kvyat in Instagram.
Whiting began his career in Formula 1 in 1977, in addition to the position of race director Charlie, was the FIA safety delegate and head of the technical department of Royal racing.
It was he who inspected the race cars before the start, ran the starting traffic lights and gave the start to each race.
