Ukrainian general predicted a “big war” against Russia

Former deputy head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Igor Romanenko believes that the Russian authorities may close the Sea of Azov for Ukrainian ships, which will increase the likelihood of a “big war” between countries. He said this in an interview with the publication “Apostrof”.

According to him, the military clash is inexpedient, since the Ukrainian army is not able to respond to the Russian. “The troops will not lead us, because the West does not want the expansion of this war into a large-scale and growing into the Third World War. And to actively help on the diplomatic, economic fronts and in the military field is yes. But to fight for Ukraine is not, ”he believes.

The military also suggested that sanctions against Russia could be strengthened, but he doubted their effectiveness.

Earlier on Saturday, November 17, a representative of the President of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada, Irina Lutsenko, threatened Russia with a tough response in the event of the closure of the Sea of Azov for Ukrainian courts. “Ukraine’s reaction will be tough, we have several lawsuits about the violation by the Russian Federation of the international convention on the law of the sea,” she said.

The situation in the Sea of Azov between Russia and Ukraine worsened after the completion of the construction of the Crimean bridge across the Kerch Strait in the spring of 2018. In Kiev, they believe that Moscow may restrict access to the Azov water area. During the conflict, the border services of countries repeatedly detained the court.
