The suspect filed an appeal in which he stated that he “does not speak Russian well enough.” Yes, it turns out that it was possible.
The Volgograd Regional Court overturned the arrest of a native of Azerbaijan, Hayal Mamedov, suspected of pedophilia. Such a verdict was rendered in response to the appeal, in which the accused indicated that the lower court did not provide him with an interpreter from Azerbaijani, and he “does not speak Russian well enough”
Note that the incident itself occurred a month ago in the village of Gorodishche. According to investigators, Mamedov driving a gazelle drove up to a 13-year-old schoolgirl and asked to show the way. The gullible victim was in the cabin of a lost driver. However, the gazelle almost immediately changed course, stopping on the outskirts of the village. There, the attacker abused the girl, then landed her and left.
Local media reported that the victim’s mother contacted the police. The rapist was able to detain in hot pursuit.
In court, Life was told that one cannot say that because of problems with the translator, Mamedov was “just taken and released”: the accused is still in the SIZO, but formally the question of the preventive measure remains open, since the violation of the rights of the accused took place.
“ He was chosen a preventive measure, but the request for an interpreter was not granted, thereby violating his right to defense ,” explained Ekaterina Valkovskaya, press secretary of the Volgograd Regional Court.
Materials have been transferred to the new review. Gorodische court, which was obliged to provide an interpreter for Mamedov, has not yet commented on the situation.
